Hi, my name is ClairLou
Foremost I am mum to my two gorgeous little mini-men L and J. I've been married for more years than I care to remember to a mostly stay at home dad. I work full time as a geologist although there are many days when I wish I was at home with the kids. And even occasionally at home while they to childcare.
We moved out from the UK to Melbourne, Australia at the end of 2009. Its been a great adventure and we love the city, but hell it can be tough being half a world away from your family!
We are though entranced by the quality of light here, by the strange trees and animals, and the friendly people in this bustling but slowed down city.
Our oldest miniman L was diagnosed with Aspergers at the beginning of 2012 age 4 and we've had a roller coaster ride which seems to only be getting wilder.
I have been slowly discovering the delights and pleasures of crafting and other home skills that I was never much interested in pre-kids. I've also been undoing a lifetime of believing that I am neither artistic nor creative and enjoying myself very much!
Me and my sisters learned to knit as kids but I don't think it stuck with any of us. I tried again when pregnant with my first child and the best I can say is that he got his blanket before his first birthday. For my second child I took home a crochet book from the library and never looked back. I've found one of the great passions of my life.
That has given me confidence to explore any and every craft that takes my fancy, but somehow I always wander back to the hook and yarn.
This blog is about life in Oz, family life, crafting, crocheting, cooking and how we're coping with being transplanted, with the added sweet and sour of aspergers for my mini-man L.
Its a journal/ therapy/ and a way of reaching out to those with similar hobbies and passions.
